Why you don't need sugar for great taste

We want to encourage consumption of reduced sugar products. This is because we know that excessive sugar consumption is damaging the nation’s health. But it’s not easy to cut down. Eating clean all the time is hard. And boring. 
 
Well actually … we disagree.
 
Recent innovations have proven that you can indulge without having to compromise on your health. At Oppo, we use the natural sugar substitutes, steviol glycosides (derived from stevia leaf) and erythritol (derived from corn). This means that our ice cream contains 50-60% less sugar calories than regular ice cream. Having just won a Great Taste Award, we also know that sugar isn’t necessary for indulgence. And we’re not alone. There are multiple brands across the food and drink spectrum creating indulgent products with a fraction of the sugar content. 
 
There’s no shortage of innovation in this area. But it doesn’t come cheap. With obesity levels rising, let’s not keep this innovation accessible to only the wealthy few.
